Whatever industry you’re in, you’re going to put countless hours into working over time depending on your deliverables. Back in the day, before digital platforms existed you would regularly work a nine to five job. Unfortunately, with social media in the picture, it has resulted in an increasing problem of being accessible to work overtime 24/7. This has ultimately led to more stress and poor health.
Being overworked can result in work burnout. That’s why it is important to set aside time on how to prevent it.
Here are some recommendations:
Find a Release
With the pressure that work provides, it is important to find a way to release the stress involved. If you hold in that stress, eventually it is going to burst. Generally, physical activity is a good go-to for releasing that built up energy. What matters most is not how you release stress, but that you find a way to release it.
Take a Break From Alcohol and Caffeine
One of the worst habits people begin to establish in a job that becomes stressful is turning to overconsumption. A lot of people will turn to consume more caffeine, alcohol, energy drinks, or cigarettes. These are only short term fixes, and often times lead to further problems down the line. This type of dependency will eventually lead to addiction, which just provides you with another issue. Instead, consider engaging in a hobby, taking up reading, and going for a nice walk!
Work Away From Your Desk
Changing up your scenery is key when it comes down to refreshing your perspective on stressful deliverables. Although some of us are still working from home (or whether you are back in the office) consider spending a few hours working in a different room or section of your house or office. It is difficult to separate work life from home life with our given situations, that’s why it is equally important to separate a part of your home off to be a workspace as well.
Get Plenty of Exercise, Sleep and Eat Well
Remember when your parents would force you to go to bed so you would get a full eight hours of sleep each night? Well, turns out it was one of the best things they could do for you. Getting the right amount of sleep helps prevent burnout. Another important factor is making sure you’re creating a good diet plan. We all eat bad from time to time, but if it is consistent you’re not providing yourself with enough nutrients to fuel your body which results in the work burnout.
